No School on 9 July! Maharashtra Declares Holiday Across Districts

No School on 9 July! Maharashtra Declares Holiday Across Districts

The Maharashtra government blocked a school holiday on 9th July in 2025 in several districts on a recent update on the 9th of July, which was a welcome move by all the students that are dispersed across the state. Its announcement was after administrative motives caused either by warnings of heavy rainfall, critical cultural programs or circumstances where the school premises are needed by the government program.

The Reason of the Holiday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned heavy to very heavy rainfall over several districts on/around 9 th July. To achieve maximum security of the students and the staff members, local authorities ruled to temporarily close down schools, particularly in the rain sensitive regions like Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Nashik.

The holiday can be celebrated in other sections of the state like Nagpur and Pune because of local functions, administrative notices, or readiness to exams or rallies at the state level. The official circulars were sent to schools and most of the education institutions already informed parents and students through SMS and WhatsApp groups
What Parents Ought To Know

Parents are recommended

Make sure you ask the administration of school about the status of holidays in their region.

Also house children in case there is heavy rain warning in their district.

Keep in touch with the District Education Office or the local municipal organizations to know whether there is a change.

Will It Impact on College Students?

Currently schools that are under state and municipal boards are the main beneficiaries of the pronouncement of the holiday. There are certain junior colleges also which observe the holiday as per order in the district. Institutions such as universities and those in the private sector will receive different notifications which can be different.
